Islamic Baths and the Barreto Stately Home
Loulé, ALGARVE Places to visit
Casa Senhorial dos Barreto
The Islamic Baths of Loulé are a rare and significant archaeological site dating back to the 12th century, during the Islamic period of the Algarve. Discovered in 2006, the site reveals a well-preserved public bathhouse (hammam), including several rooms used for hot and cold baths. It is one of the few Islamic bath complexes found in Portugal and offers valuable insight into the daily life and urban infrastructure of the Muslim communities that once lived in the region.
